A Major Challenge for Indian Firms Ten Years Down The Line
Abstract
Employment is one of the major factors for
determining social harmony as well as a deciding factor for the National
economic development. Whereas, employing skilled and competent workforce is one
of the biggest challenges for every organization. Human resources management
has always been considered as a support function. Even Michael Porter has done
the same while designing the value chain. But, the present competitive
environment has forced the recruiters to give prime importance to acquire skilled
and competent human capital as a part of their competitive and growth strategy.
The future looks even challenging both for the recruiters and the human
resources professionals. Retaining the competent workforce will be the major
challenge than acquiring them.
This article discusses the changing dynamics in the human resource
ecosystem by analyzing the past and the present trends. It also tries to
articulate some of the major issues coming in the way of the HR professionals.
The future calls for a change in the present human resources management
strategy. A radical revolution is required to attend the upcoming challenges
for the HR professionals. This article addresses these issues in a nutshell.
